Purpose: The study focussed to understand the reforms that influenced the performance of the PSEs in India with a special focus on SAIL, to analyse the role played by the reforms taken in a public enterprise in increasing the performance of SAIL and to examine the significance of such reforms in increasing the effectiveness of public sector enterprises.   Theoretical Framework: This assessment, the performance of the public sector enterprises of India is going to be discussed in reference to the reforms made by the Government of India with reference to the SAIL (SAIL, 2023).   Design/Methodology/Approach: The research topic has been talking about the reforms that have been made in Steel Authority of India Limited which would require quantitative data from various sources and then its analysis.   Findings: The government changed its economic policy in the year 1991 and thus made provision for the privatization of non-profit making public sector enterprises (Kunmin and Panchanatham, 2019). SAIL was among the profit-making PSUs of India as it is the largest steel producer in the country.   Conclusion: Article reveals that the research aimed to provide an assessment of the impact of reforms on the growth and performance of PSEs like “Steel Authority of India Limited”

Localized modes in defective multilayer structures

In this paper, the localized surface modes in a defective multilayer structure has been investigated. It is shown that the defective multilayer structures can support two different kind of localized modes depending on the position and the thickness of the defect layer. One of these modes is localized at the interface between the multilayer structure and a homogeneous medium (the so-called surface mode) and the other one is localized at the defect layer (defect localized mode). We reveal that the presence of defect layer pushes the dispersion curve of surface modes to the lower or the upper edge of the photonic bandgap depending on the homogeneous medium is a left-handed or right-handed medium (e.g. vacuum), respectively. So, the existence region of the surface modes restricted. Moreover, the effect of defect on the energy flow velocity of the surface modes is discussed.Comment: 5 pages, 7 figure

The Role of Customer Satisfaction in Improving the Performance of Sail (Steel Authority of India LTD)

    Get PDF
Purpose: The study focussed on the influence of customer satisfaction on reform policies and the performance of SAIL and attempts to investigate the influence of reform policies in improving the performance of SAIL (De, 2014).   Theoretical Framework: Research examined the moderating role of customer satisfaction between reform policies and the performance of SAIL. A conceptual model with two hypotheses was developed and data were collected from 385 employees and managerial staff in the form of a questionnaire from five integrated units of SAIL (Jain et al., 2014).   Design/Methodology/Approach: Paper goes through the quantitative and qualitative discussion to analyse the performance of SAIL against the backdrop of liberalization measures introduced in the 1990s and afterward. The study will analyse two different periods of SAIL: Before 1990 and after 1990.   Findings: The findings of the study provide useful insights to evaluate and improve SAIL's reform policies and performance and to enhance customer satisfaction.   Conclusion: Article paves the way to huge scope for future researchers. The scope of the study can be further broadened by including several PSEs across multiple industries to gain comprehensive findings about the impact of reforms on the performance of different types of PSEs

Atomic White-Out: Enabling Atomic Circuitry Through Mechanically Induced Bonding of Single Hydrogen Atoms to a Silicon Surface

We report the mechanically induced formation of a silicon-hydrogen covalent bond and its application in engineering nanoelectronic devices. We show that using the tip of a non-contact atomic force microscope (NC-AFM), a single hydrogen atom could be vertically manipulated. When applying a localized electronic excitation, a single hydrogen atom is desorbed from the hydrogen passivated surface and can be transferred to the tip apex as evidenced from a unique signature in frequency shift curves. In the absence of tunnel electrons and electric field in the scanning probe microscope junction at 0 V, the hydrogen atom at the tip apex is brought very close to a silicon dangling bond, inducing the mechanical formation of a silicon-hydrogen covalent bond and the passivation of the dangling bond. The functionalized tip was used to characterize silicon dangling bonds on the hydrogen-silicon surface, was shown to enhance the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) contrast, and allowed NC-AFM imaging with atomic and chemical bond contrasts. Through examples, we show the importance of this atomic scale mechanical manipulation technique in the engineering of the emerging technology of on-surface dangling bond based nanoelectronic devices.Comment: 9 pages (including references and Supplementary Section), 8 figures (5 in the main text, 3 in Supplementary

Politics of desire: exploring the ethnicity/sexuality intersectionality in south asian and east asian men who have sex with men (MSM)

    Get PDF
Intersectionality’ has been used to interrupt dominant discourse surrounding LGB experiences, and has exposed their heterogeneity. Complexities of negotiating desire within a matrix of race/ethnicity and sexuality in South and East Asian men who have sex with men (MSM) has been under-explored in Black and Minority Ethnic LGB research. Our internet survey found discordance between sexual identities and sexual practices amongst Asian MSM. Many did not access LGB physical and cyberspaces, and some experienced abuse attributed to their race/ethnicity. Feeling undesired was read as a function of racism, but racism from Asian MSM, manifesting as dispreference for certain races/ethnicities, was also found. We also explored intersections between internalised racism and homophobia which affect the lived experience of diasporic Asian MSM

Minimal Walking Technicolor: Set Up for Collider Physics

    Get PDF
Different theoretical and phenomenological aspects of the Minimal and Nonminimal Walking Technicolor theories have recently been studied. The goal here is to make the models ready for collider phenomenology. We do this by constructing the low energy effective theory containing scalars, pseudoscalars, vector mesons and other fields predicted by the minimal walking theory. We construct their self-interactions and interactions with standard model fields. Using the Weinberg sum rules, opportunely modified to take into account the walking behavior of the underlying gauge theory, we find interesting relations for the spin-one spectrum. We derive the electroweak parameters using the newly constructed effective theory and compare the results with the underlying gauge theory. Our analysis is sufficiently general such that the resulting model can be used to represent a generic walking technicolor theory not at odds with precision data.Comment: 42 pages, 3 figures.
